Dropping your load in Public Restrooms
#41
Everyone should read the book "Toilet". It is a crack up.

I was just reading about the coverage of the Oklahoma Tornado and the unfathomable loss of life, limb and property involved. Terrible, sobering and very sad. Then I visit Punaweb's Punatalk and someone is actually kvetching about something as trivial as public bathrooms and odors produced therein. There are plenty of people in Oklahoma who would flat out trade a public restroom and all it entails for the opportunity to have their loved ones back safe or alive or their homes and lives intact. If the worst that you have to complain about is a public bathroom then you have it way better than many and maybe more than you deserve. (Shaking my head in disgust and climbing down off my soapbox.)

My advice to Shoresresident is to quit hanging out in public restrooms.

I have been in the Puainako McDonalds a few times with my little children. Little ones always need to do number one or wash their hands. Anyway, On most every one of these times a worker would be dropping her load and walking out without even washing her hands. This made me glad, I am no longer a McDonalds eater.

EightFingers, Man you must be scarred for life like I am. Gross, no one should ever endeavor such a scene!

Kalakoa, What the heck is wrong with people? I am amazed at how nasty people can be.

What were you expecting for $7.25/hour?

Exactly. McDonald's should move to Hilo so they can afford to pay more than minimum wage. That way, their workers could afford their own bathrooms instead of dropping a load at work.

Okay so this is gross and I am already paranoid to go in public restrooms for fear I might make it smelly...I even carry THE DROPS with me everywhere "just in case." Sometimes we can't help but use a public restroom...but the handwashing thing is so f'ckng gross I may lose a few pounds over the next few days. For real? What is this 13th Century Europe???? Grow up!

I've stayed out of this one, but the more I think about how completely insensitive and self centered shoresresident's original posting was the more irritated I get.

I don't think anyone goes out of their way to use a public restroom, but there are many, many, people who cannot strictly save that business for home, and that is why there are public restrooms, instead of just European style pisseuars (sp?) everywhere. Age, medical conditions, diet issues, and many medications can cause people to need to use the public facilities, and for someone to get all high and mighty because they don't want to smell other people's bodily functions, in a room designed for those functions, is just unbelievable. We live in a community with great poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, child abuse, and untreated mental illness, and this person rants about people using public bathrooms for the purpose they were designed for! Talk about misplaced priorities. If they want to rant they should rant about the real problem: inadequate ventilation in public bathrooms. This whole problem could be fixed with a good exhaust fan.

I guess shoresresident plans to always be in perfect health, to never be old (you try telling my 81 year old father he shouldn't use a public restroom, he could never leave home) and to never eat something that upsets their digestive track, because all of those can cause people to need to use public restrooms for their intended function.

Please everyone, flush the toilet, wash your hands, put the towels in the proper container, and leave the facilities as clean as they were when you got there, but PUBLIC facilities are for public use. If you can't deal with the public, stay home, but don't expect to dictate which call of nature people answer in a public bathroom.

Carol, you expressed this so eloquently, hopefully will open some minds to be more understanding. Thank You!

The assumption also that everyone has a home to go to, shows how unaware people are of the homeless in our community.

Carol,
This was no homeless people nor was this thread intended to be about homeless people. I was simply stating that some people stink up the restrooms with no regards to others. Judging by your post, I can see you are one of them. This also had nothing to do with my health or anyone else's for that matter. It was about dropping your load with no remorse for others. You state "We live in a community with great poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, child abuse, and untreated mental illness." Well start a new thread on these subjects you find so important.
Enjoy life, smile, show compassion and most importantly be grateful for the things you have!
