150th anniversary- Battle of Gettysburg
#11
South had all the best music in my opinion.

All the soldiers in the Civil war were Americans, whether fighting to preserve the Union or Confederate states rights.

Here is my favorite southern music ques:

"Rebel Soldier", great song, incredible historical pictures-

"Dixie to Arms", Martin Sheen as General Lee

And in that year of 1863, this was happening in Hawaii. It is a different perspective, the battle of Gettysburg is second from bottom. Very ironic, 30 years later, the concept of freedom had become military takeover of Hawaii. The news reporting the past week has really become strange. The Chinese launched, docked, spent an extended stay, beamed live streaming video to Chinese school children, and returned. Not a single major US news site covered it at all on their fron their front page. Not CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox. Not during the whole week.

Over the years, large landholders had acquired Hawaiian lands at the expense of the small native farmers. By 1867, seventy-two large private landholders and the government owned approximately 95.36 percent of the land in Hawai'i. [158] Americans continued to heavily influence the course of Hawaiian industry. For example, American investors furnished approximately three quarters of the funds invested in the sugar industry and also managed the plantations. [159] Hawaiian government lands continued to be sold until the Revolt of 1893 placed the remainder of the Crown Lands in the public domain. [160]

No, I don't think anyone on this forum is really much of a "Hawaiian".

Punaweb is a great forum but it would be even better if people would keep it Hawaii.
The petty vendettas and childish insults can be amusing though.
