Learning native Hawaiians fought in the Civil War is news for even some historians. This is an article about an effort to produce a documentary about the role of Hawaii and Hawaiians during the civil war. Pretty interesting stuff about the role of cotton and sugar support for the Union army.

Hawaiians also were imported as labor to the british colony of Victoria. Their word kanak eventually became todays canuck. Saltspring Island has some Hawaiian street names - one of the first settlers was a Hawaiian man who married a native Canadian (Salish or Haida - I cannot recall which at the moment). History is tons of fun. Maybe we need a new section for Hawaiian historic threads eh Rob?!

PaulW does in fact have a large stick stuck up his ass, however it is not just him. It is the collective on this site which despises people who are not part of the click. If you don't agree with the stick up the ass posters here you will be attacked. It is very typical collective group behavior and this Punaweb click honestly represents a very small minority of this island, seemingly on a different planet of existence. No doubt it has something to do with the transplant syndrome. This click hides behind its keyboard though, you wont find it in the wild on the big island except at subdivision meetings, farmers markets and schools with a heavy transplant presence. At least among the people I hang out with, which seem to be a broad cross section of the big island, this behavior would be identified as a respect issue and "called out" I would probably say "don't act" and no doubt they would not in person.
Trying to keep this forum "Hawaiian" is a ****ing joke, biggest ive heard on this rock. Its just amazing how Liberally Punaweb has been Whitewashed with this click.

Someone with 10 posts is telling a member of 4 years that they are a "troll"?
Welcome to the Internet, Vampire.

Just to clarify - a 'troll' is not determined by the number of posts he or she makes rather by the tone and content of said posts. By boasting about your large number of posts, you are not negating the troll label, merely stating that you are a prolific troll.

Well, it's not just post counts that make the person. But I agree, Join date and Post count should account for some respectness. But these days it seems no one cares about it. Just another brick in the wall.
