Renewing my request for Motorized scooter
#1
Yes I did post this once before but had no luck. As I previously stated my mom is 64 years old and is confined to an oxygen tank 24 hours a day. She has Emphysema.

Walking around for her is not at all possible. She has lost that ability due to her lungs. I am asking for your help in helping me to accomplish getting a motorized scooter or wheelchair for her. She does not have money to afford one of these chairs, They are too expensive and lives off a limited SSI income.

We have tried to get one medically approved and had no luck. I am not in a position to shell out the amount of money needed. I wish I was, I would not be here asking. Please if anyone has one or knows of anyone that is willing to give it away than please reply to my post. Please keep your rude comments to yourself. This is a request for help so that my mother can live the rest of her time here comfortably.

1. I think it would help everyone if your topic/subject line were specific... request for what?

2. Have you checked yet to see if she can qualify for a free scooter or wheelchair since she is on SSI? It was suggested earlier but I don't remember seeing any response. Google "free scooters for disabled" to get started. Some are commercial operations, some are non-profits, all kinds of stuff, but you might find some help there.

Yes I did check to see if they would approve her and they wont. I did do a Google search and they are not free at all. Thank you for your response! I appreciate it.

Either program will provide her with appropriate medically necessary equipment for little or no cost.

So come clean with us and tell us what the real situation is, and maybe you will get some help. But applying is up to you and your mother. She has to do the paperwork and the footwork.

Medicare/Medicaide , which program is she on? once you tell us that then you might get an answer. Also which supplement? And if you have not signed up for a supplement then the problem is really all yours, because that is where some of the money for these types of things come from.

Even though the GOP would like to we still do not throw our disabled under the bus, at least not yet.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

For your information, I did help my mother with all of the required paper work and documents. They did not approve it. What the hell do you mean by come clean??? My mother is very ill and this is something I would not even think about playing games with. I wish to god in heaven that my mother was not in this state of health and it breaks my heart to see her this way. She is on Social security income. It is a disability type of income. Before you start judging people why don't you realize that not everyone is out to lie and be dishonest. I am appalled by your attitude and feel it is in appropriate.

I don't think I have ever seen a motorized scooter or wheelchair in working condition given away free. Have you considered posting on Craigslist to see if it would be possible to rent or lease one for 2-3 months, that would give you time to look for something permanent

The 2 links posted below has info. on ADRC ( senior resource center) they may be able to help, worth a try! My advice to anyone, always go in person, you can get a lot more accomplished with face to face meetings.

There is a Rascal brand mobility scooter on Craigslist for $300. If you ask nicely perhaps they will let you do some sort of payment plan. $50 a month for 6 months sounds reasonable.

"I did help my mother with all of the required paper work and documents. They did not approve it."
"She is on Social security income. It is a disability type of income"

I'm sorry, those two sentences are mutually exclusive.
