#1
Was wondering if anyone had used sips in puna? Is there a manufacturer in hawaii or do they ship from mainland?

Our house is an older aluminum SIP, shipped from the mainland in the early 70's (when aluminum was not so expensive) There are a handful of the same make/era in Keaau...and other different types around Puna

We used the ProTec wall SIPs plus roof panel SIPs from Rob for our house. They are cement board and metal panels respectively, sandwiching closed cell foam. They were easy to put up by amateurs. Working part time with a neighborhood crew we had a shell up in under two months. The insulation in both the roof and walls contribute to more comfortable temperatures on hot days and some retention of heat at night even with a lot of air circulation. No termite food in the house except the wooden doors and trim/moldings.

Another Castleblock ProTec house here, built by myself and some hired labor. Love it.

Can I inquire about the construction experience you guys had before you began building your castleblock homes yourselves?
