The Hawaii senate passed a Medical marijuana dispensary bill today. They are going allow one permit per county and two dispensary site and one grow area for the permit. I could not figure out how they are going award the permit. This a start maybe it can grow into a good thing. What are your ideas about medical dispensary?

It's a step in the right direction. Washington and Colorado have the right idea.

For terminal patients.....yes, fantastic. Heroin too if they want it. Daily use for non-terminal patients? No, there is an arrest of emotional growth from daily use. Don't need more immature people in the USA, we already have our quota filled.

This is a really terrible bill. It sets up a monopoly dispensary and grow farm system. That means one person could end up owning the whole production and distribution system, sanctioned to charge a high price due to control over the product. Think about who has been really pushing for this model of a dispensary system and what they have preached about monopoly evil. Hypocrites. Still has to be signed off by Ige.
It would have been a lot more simple to allow non-primary care physicians to write a prescription, the patient allowed up to 4 plants, either growing it or through a care provider. Of course, there would be no money in it for the state that way.

This is why taxing it will not work. It will raise the price of non-taxed (black market) product and the criminals will make more money than they do now because criminals don't pay taxes!

Sounds like great support for a limited faction of our economy.

Per the registry, that's 6500 people on the Big Island.

No matter where the two (count'em, TWO) dispensaries go, some of those cardholders will have to afford a very long drive in addition to those taxes.
Step in the right direction ... it'll just be a few years before we know how small that step was.
