FYI:
The Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency, formerly known as the State Civil Defense, will be testing the statewide outdoor siren warning system, along with the live audio broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, on Friday, May 1, at 11:45 a.m.
During the siren test, sirens will sound a steady tone for one minute. The tone is intended to alert the public of any emergency that may post a threat to life and property, in the event of an actual emergency. Though generally used for natural hazards, the alert system could also be used in the event of terrorism or acts of war.
If you notice any siren operation issues during the test, contact (808) 935-0031.
