Josh, Pams son, just posted on facebook that Pam is being moved to Hilo Hospice today.
Pam has been my friend for about 12 or so years, and we experienced the "moving to Hawaii" dream at the same time. When I was back this last time, we talked about her luck finding her land, building her house, starting her farm, and all the wonderful experiences she has had living this adventure. She talked about all the people she has met through the years, and the closeness she has with so many. The sharing she does, and the getting back.
We helped each other...I cleaned a bizzilion tiles and did several other things on her house while she built. She found and brought to me a stacking washer and dryer...I don't even remember where the heck she got it.
She decided she would live her dream and she did it. And has helped LOTS of people along the way. I hold her dearly in my heart and always will. I love her warm, snuggly hugs...maybe its cause we are both kinda fluffy, like winnie the poo says. But I have that in my memory.
She is one of the first Punawebbers, right Rob? And her farm adventures are in many of our minds..like always getting stuck in the mud.
I wish I was there but it can't be. Those of you who love and know her, its time to check on her...call first, of course, and let the woman know how loved she is.

Nancy,
I am deeply saddened to hear this. I was concerned when no mention had been made since your prior post on her being in the the hospital this last time. Pam has always been one of the go to people for this area for a very long time, and I wish I was there as well to let her know once again how cherished she has been by many of us, and always will be. She has touched so many with her kindness. If you talk with Pam, please let her know that those of us not still in the area, do still think of her often.

I never have had the pleasure of meeting Pam in person, although I'm pretty sure I was behind her in a line at KTA one time, but for me she epitomizes what a true Punawebber should be: honest, compassionate, caring of the land and people around her, and always had a positive spin on things. Pam is someone who shows true aloha and tries to be pono in everything she does. Her absence here has left a real gap on Punaweb.
Maybe in honor of Pam, we can all try to be more like her.

Yeah, this is sad news. Pam is an early Punaweb member and I credit her a lot with an enthusiasm and spirit that helped Punaweb survive it's early years. She arrived here with the right combination of grit, vision and aloha to find a ready home and we have all watched her help people too many times to count. Pam has always shared her successes and failures - all to everyone's benefit.
This is an Hawaiian woman who did not need to be born here. She arrived with her bags packed full of aloha.
Nancy: Can you private mail me some contact info? I want to wish her well and tell her how appreciated she is.

I too am very saddened by this news. Her enthusiasm for life and the joy she radiated when talking about growing plants and life on the ranch was always fun to read. What a bright light she is.

I am so saddened to hear this news. (But thank you Nancy for posting it.) I loved the long tales of establishing the farm and her adventures. Because of the coincidence of having the same last name we wrote each other from time to time and when I was renovating she I gave her a lot of used lumber that came from my house. She was such a wonderful voice in Punaweb. She never had a mean word for anyone and wrote well about the daily adventures of a life well lived.
Aloha,

Very sad news but also good news in that she is in a very good place right now and with people who will give her the best possible care and aloha. My thoughts are with Pam and her family and friends.

Even after her brain surgery, on returning to her farm, she welcomed all to come by if they neeed anything. Such an example of aloha that we can all strive for.

I agree with Carol. I miss those Punatalk days when Pam consistently brought sunshine, smiles, and hugs into the forum. Deeply sorry to read about Pam. She has had a tough battle with health issues the past year. God bless you, Pam!
