Just saw on the news a homeowner in lelani,in his own driveway, was assaulted and his car taken by a "pidgin speaking" man on tuesday.
Criminals getting more brazen all the time. Be on the lookout for a blue kia optima ZAT 755.http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2013/08/21/assault-stolen-car-reported-in-punas-leilani-estates/
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Is it strange to ask what he was doing out at that hour ? Apparently not knowing what time it was, between Midnight and 3am ??? I think there's more to this than a random act.

Some of us work weird hours so am not surprised that there are some people up in the early hours and even possibly out in the yard (I've done it just to look at the stars!). Have to agree that not having a more precise time is a bit strange but the victim was assaulted so maybe in a state of shock or even knocked unconscious? The report doesn't mention how bad the assault was. [Edit]: He could possibly have also been woken up by a disturbance in his yard, gone out to see what was going on with no idea what the time was until it all ended. Don't think I'd read too much into this right now.

Maybe off topic: Just saw on the news this morning, something big went down in Puna.
Two "violent" incidents last night, and armored vehicle used by law enforcement. (Showed video on KGMB/HawaiiNewsNow channel)
ETA: And this; (probably not related):

PUNA, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Big Island Police are investigating a case involving a Federal Task Force officer who stepped on a booby trap device in a marijuana patch while chasing a wanted suspect in Puna.
At about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, while conducting warrant sweeps in the Ainaloa subdivision, a Federal Task Force officer was attempting to apprehend a wanted individual in the area of Azure Drive. The officer ran into the brush area in a marijuana patch and stepped on a booby trap device made of nails, causing puncture injuries.
