pahoa transfer station
#1
Well i had not been to the dump in pahoa for a couple years since i live closer to the keaau one, but with this 130 bottle neck i may be using pahoa more. I was suprised how modern it is and organized.I am 64 years old and wish i bought my skate board along to try out on all that nice concrete paving ha ha!

Proof positive that County can do a really nice job ... when they feel like it.

Anyone know if the Pahoa transfer station on Apaa street is open today for garbage collection?

The recycle/repurpose tent moved back there yesterday, to that little cinder block building temporarily while the tent gets moved. They said they would be reopen today, Sunday 3/1. I didn't ask to make sure the garbage area would be open, too. I think the media said it would be open March 1st? Hope so!

Yes it is open, but in true County fashion, they left the temp signs running that say Apaa street is closed.

Is the HI5 reopening as well?

I went to the (old as of yesterday) Pahoa xfer station today and it was closed, but the signs were still blinking that Apaa street was closed. I thought, "I wonder if the transfer station there reopened, but nobody remembered to turn off the signs.... nah... nobody is that dumb."

WRONG.

WRONG.
