Seven microwaves...
#1
... in 14 years. Our microwave oven just died. That makes at least seven in the last 14 years, all of them died out of warranty, maybe from the humidity? Part of life in Puna I guess.

It's the universe telling you to stop microwaving your food.

Are you using a surge suppressor?

It could be something as cheap as this will help. All appliances now have computer boards inside that are very susceptible to surges .

Whole house would be even better.

Probably from putting GMO food in the microwave. Have you tried going organic?

A helpful tip the Sears appliance guy told me after having the same problem is to leave the door of the microwave open for a few minutes after nuking something. This allows the moisture form the food or beverage to escape. The moisture reeks havoc on microwaves. I've now had the same microwave for 4 years with no issues from practicing this. Angela

We have had one for 8 years from Sears (convection over/microwave) that had the wheels on the turntable go out last spring...haven't gotten around to finding a new wheel thingy for the old micro yet... Also have a cheapy micro in the ohana that has been around for four years...(We do leave the door open a bit to dehumidify most of the time)

bought a new magic chef from Home Depot for 60 bucks... Supposedly the box said it had a 10 year warranty. Tho, I dunno. We are keeping the receipt for laughs when we go back to homedepot 6-10 years if it dies.

Time will tell.
