Due to changes in plans, we are seeking Ohia that is ready to use for porch and stair railings.
Unfinished is best, but needs to be 'dry' (I realize that is an odd concept in Hawaii). Looking for 2"-4" diameter 4'-12' lengths.
Any suggestions for good alternatives also welcome!

Can use green, but might twist if you rip-cut too much.
It likes to check. Paint the ends.
Dries faster in a greenhouse, even cheap PVC-and-clear-tarp style.
Poles sometimes for sale on Craigslist.

There were some people running a portable saw mill in Puna, they were also at Maku'u, a few years back. Maybe someone here can put you in touch with them if they are still around. They seemed to be very plugged into the whole local hardwoods movement. Good luck with your project.
