Last days of the Waikiki International Marketplace

The International Marketplace in Waikiki will be closing down permanently on New Years Eve to make way for a Megamall. I'm gonna miss the old rustic wooden charm of the place along with all the tree's

Wandering the stalls was always fun. Finding the gems amongst the kitsch There were some vendors I liked to buy from too. I hope the vendors find a new home. Megamalls? Does the world need another one?

That's too bad, was there couple nights ago. Found good deals. Who needs another place selling $1000 purses

Well, that sucks. I have many fond memories of the International Marketplace. Who, besides the developers, even likes this idea? The best smoothies I've ever tasted in my life were from there. Practically any fruit you could think of, all fresh.

Waikiki is turning into a super rich enclave -- don't be surprised if Waikiki Beach one day is suddenly "off limits" to "outsiders."
