"Dr. Kim Martini is a physical oceanographer at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks."

Much better qualified than your sensationalist sources.

says who? any oceanographer worth their salt would likely work somewhere warm ... this whole "happy radiation news" just a commercial site run by this craig something or other is what I found

credible contributors and and endorsements? smoke and mirrors is my take

more of his drivel "If anything, we have the tendency to view the South, those parts of the States below the Mason Dixon line, as anti-science. A war is on throughout much of the deep South, from Louisiana to Virginia, on whether evolution should be taught in the classroom. The North Carolina house and senate have repeatedly ignored science on a range of topics including sea level rise and abortion. Is the South anti-science? Many of my scientist colleagues think so. One friend, in response to whether he applied for science faculty positions in the South, just laughed at me."

Yes, it's all a big conspiracy, all this "data" and "facts".

Have you ever flown from Hawaii to Japan? Next time, get a window seat and look down.
After looking at uninterrupted ocean for 8 hours straight at 500mph maybe you won't worry so much.

What's the problem? You don't trust a source if it's not Russian?

You know exactly which one... the one in the middle, which was linked to the article. The fact that you are kicking up totally irrelevant dust on this is a tipoff that you really have nothing of value to say on the matter.

Clearly it is not a scientific journal, but the article is scientifically sound and is presented in a way to be engaging and understandable to reasonably well educated members of the public.

Really grasping at straws now, aren't you? No, not formal style footnotes, but abundant links to her resources, which are faster and easier to use than old -fashioned footnotes:

Relevance to the article, zero. It doesn't matter if it was published on a Facebook page, the information presented is factual, understandable, and verifiable.

I read him (deep sea news) as just another phd looking for a grant - teaching in the meantime.

Alaska - most marine biology up there carried out by fisheries - its about stock and size (read industry centered) - would be counter productive in that scheme to introduce strontium levels....

Guys like Ballard are smart enough not to take a stand

no reputable scientist I've ever read takes a stand one way or another before the event is over

my point is not so much about the horror of letting the genie out of the bottle that is done and continuing....

its about how we as the population are mislead by a bunch of lackies looking to turn a dollar we have a way of destroying the truth with emotionalism - marketing to the masses at all levels by corporations and governments

GE for one being very quiet about their mark one reactor ....
