Food Truck
#1
I was unable to find any information on a food truck or food cart rules and achieving license for Hilo or Puna.

Everything I seem to find is for Honolulu.

Anyone have any suggestion ?

There are a couple food trucks in the area. Stop in and ask them.
Assume the best and ask questions.

The rules are from the State DOH so they are the same in Honolulu and Puna.

I know the Mexican food truck parked on Kilauea near the radio station is for sale. They said they have a certified kitchen. Not sure if that is the norm.

The ad is still running.

This is a recent article that ran on food trucks in Hilo.

One of the problems will be finding a legal location to park a food truck and serve food.

MOstly, Ive known food trucks can be parked anywhere there is legal standard parking. Is the rule different in Hawaii ?

It depends, if you are talking about having your food truck in Puna, I doubt you will have a problem.
Hilo can be difficult, we have known food trucks pick a location to set up, only to be told they cannot park there.
There is the Farmer's Markets and the old Chevrolet dealership, both great locations.

I plan to get a Honda Element, which is not what you would consider a big food truck, its a small SUV, but plenty to house what I need to steam.

It should fit in any stall, I wonder if the regulations on the food trucks are do to size ?

Not size. More about health standards, permits, fees, etc.
