Hurray for Obamacare! Vast improvement!

If you don't want your "estate" confiscated by the IRS - then pay the low or fairly low- premiums. Better to pay for health insurance now, than to have your "estate" confiscated by some "for profit" health care organization"- indirectly -because you have unpaid bills and have to declare BK or have a foreclosure.

Let's all as a group be part of the solution. The amount they are asking the poor to contribute is small!

health spending statistics indicate that 90% percent of ones lifetime expenditures are in the last 30 days of life

being cynical - one last chance for the medical industry to raid ones assets...

Its not health insurance - its asset insurance under this system - grin

Kaiser in my experience is a little different being "non profit" In their model they do better if they can prevent the issue ....lean towards screening and education - smoking and being fat and unfit targeted

Fee for service models - just the opposite - they have an incentive to upsell the patient

In my personal experience in working for hospitals- it hasn't mattered if the sign says "for profit, or not for profit"- they have been staffed the same. The difference I did see, was when I worked for a 'Catholic Hospital" and for the state. Both the Catholic Hospital and The State gave more "compassionate/charity oriented care" than the more mainstream organizations. Not sure if it was the crosses above the beds, or the prayer in the Catholic Hospital- and the job security in the understanding that "even if we only treat the poor we will still have state jobs"- when working for The State, but somehow it was a different philosophy. In the private sector, even the "nonprofits" want to show a good "bottem line". It may be as simple as an ego thing regarding the individuals in management and on the BOD. I do not know. All I know is the "feeling" from the various work environments- and what the staffing numbers showed.

That's what ALL insurance is. The only ones who are truly free are those who have nothing at risk.

And here is the absolute joy of ACA. IMO,this is likely to dramatically slash health care costs and finally help those needing care. This has been my gripe about medical intervention for years and I am happy dancing.

TUCK:
ACA will not do what its sponsors say it will.
It will not restrain, much less cut costs,
many who don't have access to care still won't have it.
Stop talking about ACA being "medical intervention" it is corporate pocket-picking with the help of corrupt politicians purchased by those corporations.
And by the way, what does it do to encourage more doctors to practice in Hawaii?
I'll say it again- we need health care for all, not private "health insurance" rip-offs.
Medicare for all, justice and equality for all!

Unless it's taking EBT because your shifts are bumped by someone who "doesn't need to work"?

Honestly, I can't tell which side you're on.
