FYI YuK Factor

When I first moved here 10 years ago, I rented a room on the second floor of a post & pier brand new house. Centipedes, large & small were everywhere. It was so bad I had to put the legs of the bed on glue traps in the middle of the floor. A Hawaiian friend told me the belief is: one who is riddled w/ jealousy attracts centipedes. After having some soul searching & attitude adjustment, PLUS spreading Talstar around the perimeter of the house - I am no longer checking under the pillow for centipedes.

For centipedes, if you can pin it down by the head and cut off just the head, it will be harmless. The rest of the body will still be capable of moving for a while (sometimes quite fast), but only the head has the fangs.

I have been sick too long. I actually spent time thinking about a power generation system employing cockroaches and giant centipedes.

Had a big red one in a terrarium for quite a while. It ate grasshoppers, the little black skinks and the occasional roach. They are amazingly fast and very in tune with their surroundings. If they grew to a couple feet or more I think human would probably be on their menu. Scary viscious creatures!

Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement.

I like the idea of a centipede trap that runs them right back outside with a one way exit. If it worked it would be worth an extra hole or two in the wall.
