@ punafish OOOO It will happen Hawaii has a very unique strain that grows only in Hawaii and the taste cant be duplicated no where else. Come on the governor of Hawaii is a well known smoker! I believe the governor and all mayors of Hawaii are excited over this and will be keeping an eye on the other legal states before it passes in Hawaii.Growing up in Hawaii we know people fly in from every where to get the "good stuff" When i was young that is all we did growing up smoke, beach, pulehu=(bbq)I do believe it will be good for the economy and think it will be sooner then most people think!

I agree with you hawaiian that Hawaii could really capitalize on this in many ways. I hope you are right that it's sooner than later, and until recently I thought it would be. Then someone posted this link (can't remember who), and it made me scale down my expectations from a timing standpoint. But I don't mind being wrong.
Oops, forgot the link!

To me Hawaii has always been a "watch first then act later state" And like i said before if they see the money they will legalize it.

Hawaii could very well be losing tourists for NOT legalizing it.
I'm pretty sure this is already happening, but it's lost in the noise because the tourism industry pays more attention to foreign currency exchange rates.
It would be interesting if Hawaii took advantage of its discontiguous nature and simply delegated this issue to the counties -- legalize it on one island and see what it does to the tourism numbers compared to the other islands.
Along similar lines: special resort permit, all production on-site, legal so long as it doens't leave the premises, all guests must be over 21. Tourists who want that sort of thing can simply check in to that place, now it's nice and contained, not out in the streets where it might tempt children or offend the squares.
Unfortunately, law enforcement is addicted to the drug war; it's like getting a truckload of free money that comes with permission to seize property and throw people in jail.

That is a great idea Kalakoa!
If medical marijuana is legal in Hawaii, how can there be drama about having weed on you ?
Go get your medical card and then, no problems?

When the State legislature brings the L.A. police over to do a presentation about legalizing dispensaries, it gives you an idea of how backward thinking the politicians here are. It's all too clear we're on our own; and will be for quite some time.

All I know is my MJNA stock is kicking some arse. Up 168% since 12/27.
Legalize it and use the war on drugs money for more important things.
Let Roger Christie and cohorts out and use the money to house/feed/prosecute him on more important things.
Tax it and use the money specifically to bring our school system to the top of the US. (or get rid of our GE sales tax altogether)
and I dont smoke weed but I see no reason why anyone else should shouldn't be able do what they want with it.
