Hanohano -- The Candidate
#1
Rumors of her demise (on Punaweb, at least) have been greatly exaggerated.

From a voting standpoint, this candidate will not be so easy to unseat. Say all you want. But She is firmly entrenched and will defeat any of the names that have so far come forward to run against her.

Don't hate the messenger. I'm not a supporter of her. I just like to study campaigns and patterns of Big Island voting.

You watch.

Faye came very close to losing last time.
Assume the best and ask questions.

I think that she stands a good chance if she has a number of primary opponents, which seems to be the case. She can win the primary with 30% or so if the field is crowded enough. Any Democrat could win in the general election.

I suppose in Kansas someone gets reelected because they did something for the voters that in turn gives the voters a reason to reelect them. now I know we're not in Kansas anymore (hey the world's in color ain't that proof enough?) but if asked I really couldn't say what Faye has done.. other than to make a joke of herself.. and a mockery of the whole political process. but did she bring home any bacon? not that I know of. but then this is puna and for all I know people just vote for someone 'cause they're someone else's cousin.. or some such. anyways it's always as fun as going to the circus.. and boy is Faye a great clown!

The real problem in unseating Hanohano is the no-runoff Hawaii Democratic primary. As RobL said, she could get 30% (or even less, theoretically) of the primary vote and get the Dem's nomination if the other candidates split the anti-Hanohano vote evenly. Our best hope is that everyone will fall in line with a single opponent. Otherwise, we are left with the unlikely prospect of having to elect a Republican. Personally, I would vote Republican, but many in Puna will not.

It is not accurate to say that Faye has not done anything. Apparently she has done quite a bit, I simply didn't bother to keep track or find out. The real question is has she done or voted in a way I (you) support or do not. I was surprised.
Check it out.

After I checked this out I stopped saying Faye (or anyone else) hasn't done anything, because I was wrong. Actually there isn't much she has done I don't agree with.
However her public behavior is another matter which I cannot condone, and if another candidate is credible to me that is what will sink her.

To be honest I only know Tulsi Gabbard got catchment included for VA loans nothing else about her. I don't know what Brian Shatz is doing, I am sure he is busy, but since he hasn't filled MY pothole I could say he hasn't done anything. People who spend all their time telling you what they are doing probably are not getting much done. IMHO

It's all about getting the votes. And she will do it.

That's what they said about Emily.
