Is there a new chef or what. I went In the other day and it was mediocre at best. Were they having a bad night or has anyone else noticed a decline? Thanks Smitty.

They have been advertising for a lot of positions, both floor and back house, lately. But every chef gets nights off too,so it could have been that, and any chef can have an off night too. We were there for dinner in early March and had a great meal, but my Dad went just a few days later for lunch and was disappointed.

I feel like it is hit or miss at Kaleos. I've had one of the best meals of my life there, as well as some sub-par meals.

I've never had a bad meal at Kaleo's yet, but perhaps I'm just lucky?
On a similar note, I recently had a terrible meal at Ning's, the first time ever. The Massaman curry was inedible. Haven't been back since.

I really like Kaleos, most of my experiences there have been great. Love their food. Every once in a while though, probably when the chef is off, the quality slips a bit. Was there a few weeks ago and ordered the hummus and pita appetizer. I think they were rushing because they forgot to put any salt or spices in their hummus. Tasted like paste, which was unusual because it is normally really good. I sent it back and they fixed it though. For a town the size of Pahoa I would still rate them 5 stars.

Kaleos is my favorite on four continents. We all have bad days, so must make another reservation quick.
The bigger they are....

Had great meals there and so so meals too.
On a side note: I got sick from Panda Express yesterday afternoon. Don't wanna gross anyone out so I'll just say it was severe stomach upset... Anyone else?
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

I ate at Kaleos. Once. Years ago. That and Black Rock Cafe. Not inclined to back.

Panda Express did not have rice or gyoza the ONE time I took kids. Chinese restaurant with NO RICE? They have no built up goodwill, so never again.....

I ordered the hibachi chicken one day this week. Didn't care for that. I like almost all Kaleos meals though. The Haiku salad is wonderful. The lilokoi cheesecake is to die for. Coffee is great.
