Carol, I am assuming I am included in your cockroach statement, so let me try and clarify. The debacle at the HACA was brought here because their site is controlled by the very people the macdonalds are having a problem with. rather than allow her continued antagonism they have effectively closed the site. Out if the dozen threads on this subject, six have been started by justthefact/2bad4u. This forum is being used to excarcerbate the confusions that already exist. These people have NOT attended these meetings, despite professing to do so. You do not know Cynthia macdonald, or believe me you would understand the frustration of this community. Suffice to say that a great deal of MC's rants were uncomfortably close to the truth. Integrity prevents me from exposing personal information about them both, but I cannot in good consience pretend that the misinformation, accusations, and self justification purported by justthefact/2bad4u are in any way acceptable. The only way I can do that is by dispensing with the anonymity. I do not hate Cynthia, she is an extremely unhappy person and my heart genuinely goes out to her. Problems come in all shapes and sizes and nobody deserves to be called a cockroach. To complain about people insulting each other whilst promptly insulting people would seem counterproductive to me. As far as MC and mimosa go, I would say that mimosa appears quite able to hold his own and willingly participated. IMVHO

There are some really nice, hard working, decent people here, but then there are some really strange people here too.

You had a problem with how "Kupuna" Mimosa was disrespected, but don't seem to have any issues with the racist things he had to say.

Thank You every one,we are still new to this site and learning.
We have found out via this site from others here, that is not ok to typo in pidgin english.
We are in our 80s with a large family here of many generations.
We have also learned from this site that saying we are born here is not well taken,so we have to say now ~~~ Maui Built ~~~ which seems acceptable even though it is a commercial business logo .
Our grandchildren read this site,as do many world wide,so we as a family are happy that MC has been suspended .
Thank you for the posts and we shall try to be more thoughtful of the many here who seem upset with us at times.
When we 1st joined this site, being new to the internet and this site,Rob had sent us an email stating that he welcomes more locals to this venue.
Now we are learning and will try our best to not bring any race into this site,so we can all co exist peacefully and enjoy the punaweb.

@ Mimosa - no need for an apology - when one reaches 80 - they have earned the right to speak their mind in my book.

Thanks for the many insights - and sharing.

Mimosa I did not notice any racism in your replies although admittedly a lot of political incorrectness goes over my head. Pride in your nationality is not the same as racism, and you have every reason to be proud. I truly consider myself a child of the universe as, through no doing of my own, I am able to claim the right to be wherever I want without the restriction of 'roots'. I do not consider hawaii to be any more a part of America than the Falkland islands are part of England. When you overthrow a country it doesn't stop being that country. India did not stop being India, Africa did not stop being Africa, and hawaii has not stopped being hawaii. IMHO. I know that view point will not be popular but It's mine. Please, all Hawaiians feel free to boast. I sure as hell would if this was actually my land instead if just my adopted one. Smile

I was taught to respect my elders. There's a difference between being a racist and being simply proud of one's heritage and experience on this island. Mimosa gets a pass.

I am half Ugandan, as a disclaimer I am not offended or anything, I think you have a great point. I agree with everything you said except that Africa is not a country. It is a continent full of many countries.

I'm just saying that because I am proud to be Ugandan and by default an african but I feel obligated to let people know that Africa is a continent. Many Americans think it is a country or at least refer to it as a country in casual conversation but it is important to make that distinction.
