Here's some good news. I needed spark plugs, so thought they would be less expensive in Hilo. O'Reillys $5.99 each. Surprise: Pahoa Auto Parts had Denso for $3 (which were more even on Amazon). I asked why so inexpensive, they said we don't have to double our profit at the expense of our customers. So I bought the fuel filter there too. I'm having Bob's Repair on Ilima St. do the tune up. So I earned my money in Kapoho & am spending it at local business - real feel good moment, not sending Puna money to the mainland. Disclaimer: I am not friends or related to anyone at either business. They both have treated me very well & done excellent work.

Have found Pahoa auto parts to be the best parts store around. By a considerable margin. Definitely one of the local businesses deserving support.

I always liked the sign "we cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to you". I also like pahoa auto although they don't carry many items that oreily has or napa in hilo

The Metcalf brothers are good folks. I shop there when I need something they carry including small motor and chain oil etc.
