Gang sign at 3rd and Kaloli?
#1
Just noticed a pair of sneakers thrown over the wire that crosses Kaloli at 3rd. I had LOL. [Big Grin]

There are mainland gangs trying to gain a foothold here.
I have spotted some MS-13 symbols in the area, and have seen a few individuals with the MS-13 tattoos, in Pahoa.
The police act is if these gangs do not exist - and they are very wrong to be ignoring them.

MS-13 must be a west coast gang, I've never heard of them. SO I googled them.

Would HELCO come take the sneakers down ? Or is there a way to get them down ? Allowing them to stay up is the same as saying we allow the gang activity.

The're all over. I dealt with them on a regular basis. I guarantee they were even more prolific in the more urban areas of S. Fl.

Maybe in places like Liberty City and Over Town in Miami.

I am more familiar with east coast gangs like Latin Kings, 20 love, etc..

Sneakers over the wires maybe just kids playing or a want to be. MS13 is Salvadoran don't think there is a big population here

Yes, MS13 is mainly Salvadoran but no longer exclusively. Still I think mainly Central American. Anywhere you have a sizable community of illegals from Central America you are likely to have them. Plenty in many communities now throughout the country. Expect the problem to grow, nationally. I wouldn't think the BI would have a lot but I don't know.

As for the sneakers, I'd always heard it was a sign of drug sales. I used to see them fairly often and they were usually in areas where drugs were sold but that description was generally fairly accurate when applied to the neighborhood in general and not necessarily that specific location. I personally always figured it was mainly kids (likely not well disciplined kids) messing around, kids that had a substantial risk factor of being ones selling drugs in the area in a couple more years. My vote in the HPP instance is kids playing around.

There are some old sneakers over a wire here in Nanawale. I would be very surprised if there was an actual gang though!
