Puna Version of Taylor Camp?
#1
In one of the recent posts, I was intrigued by a reference to Taylor Camp and, being the inquisitive type, did a search on the web and learned a lot. Very interesting (but I am hesitant to provide greater details as it was based in Kauai and is therefore off-limits for this forum).

For those who already know what it was, a few questions...

Was there ever a Puna version of Taylor Camp and, if so, how long was it in existence? Is there any current day encampment or community in Puna with the same philosophies and mission as the original Taylor Camp?

To me, it seems as if the Big Island (and Puna in particular) would be fertile ground for such.

There was a commune on some property owned by Jack Lord down Kama'ili (Opihikau) road back in the 60's-70's. The name escapes me for now.

edit; Memory banks restored; It was called "Rainbow Ranch".

I think Rob allows discussion on all things Hawaii related - most anyway.
A few years ago the Palace Theater in Hilo had the movie that was made about Taylor Camp- here is a link to the full documentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58WKzxMWZpUdocumentary:

The world has changed much since that time (mid 60's to mid 70's) and not for the better unfortunately, and although their are plenty of alternative live style opportunities here on the island of Hawaii, the situations of both peoples, place, and times are significantly different - imo.

Closest thing I can think of is the Steamvent Inn at mm 15 or so on 130.

What is that? As long as it's hawaii based it's good to go, from my understanding anyway.
