Rat Lung disease proof Garden
#1
Aloha my Puna friends, as a 42yr resident in HPP this is my first post here because I thought it was important relative to the Rat Lung disease factor.

This is my Hawaii style Lazy Susan garden, I originally built it mainly as an experiment to see if I could grow Vegetables without having an insect problem, this was way before the Rat Lung disease had invaded Puna's ground and raised bed gardens.

For those that want to grow their own Vegetables this is a safe way to do it if only if you use mainland store bought potting soil, don't take the chance of using Puna home composted material or dirt because it may be Rat Lung slug and Fire Ant contaminated.

This trade wind revolving Lazy Susan garden can be made much, larger using a front wheel and rim off a big Diesel truck as the pivot point and using 5/8th od re-bar (takes a long time to rust out) for the triangulated frame work attached to the rim in a plug and play way to support an array of grow pots, trays, 5 gallon buckets or even Wall*Mart Kiddy Pools…the triangle braced main frame has to be strong to support much weight.

Watch the video and tell me what you think, Mahalo

very inventive, what i like is the center post, one way up that you can then guard against snails. by poisoning underneath and around. probably also take care of fire ants that way. rats of course could easily jump hip high and the spinning would not deter them. having lived on a ship, motion does not deter rats. i did wonder about trying to chase it around while weeding/planting. that seemed like a lot of work and not sure what the spinning accomplished. but a lovely garden and certain facets of it were very nice...
