BILL 25 Zendo's last hurrah!
#51
writing laws that are so flimsy and vague in their crafting just to get what a few people want

Like when the law "allows" creation of vast subdivisions without infrastructure so that a "few people" can make big money on the deal?

why not apply for a special use permit?

Ag zoning already allows selling of ag products from a roadside stand. No special permit required, nor minimum lot size.

Yes kalakoa actually we want a minimum lot size and a buffer zone.

In other words: you want the "rural character", valuation, and tax rates of Ag zoning, but you also want the use restrictions, noise limits, and paved roads of R zoning.

It would be far simpler to rezone the high-density subdivisions.

Well let's not encourage it.

Yeah, can't allow anyone to have fun. Must be a way to make it illegal. What an attitude. The Fun Police.

Kalakoa is correct. Puna needs a zoning overhaul. The current zoning code is a sham.

Assume the best and ask questions.

Maybe my tinfoil hat is on too tight today, but has anyone wondered what the Council is really doing while we're all distracted with Bill 25?

I had a very nice talk with CM Kern today. We talked about Bill 25 and I am looking forward to the amendments that he will submit. He agrees that the language and perimeters in the bill need to be shored up. I found Zendo to be a good listener and very perceptive in understanding the other side of the zoning issue. Stay tuned.

Good for you, Sativa, and perhaps middle ground will be reached. If we take away the banter (on this thread and others), you and RJ are no dummies, quite astute (for the most part, we don't agree on all issues at hand), and these kinds of updates are appreciated.

Frustration shows from all angles, including yours, with due respect. Moving forward in a good direction is what counts. Mahalo for the effort.

JMO.
