Thank god you left before you got food. The stuff they expect you to pay for there is a joke. I cannot wait to see the grade the health inspector gives them. Hawaii time is chillax and all but 20 minutes to even be acknowledged? Please.

Never eaten at this place. I have become a fan of Lucy's, and Kaleos, and Pahoa Fresh Fish. There are some fine Thai places in Hilo. I miss Chevy's, but the one we used to go to, in Tacoma Washington, closed up after we moved here.

Twenty minutes is nothing! I waited for 45 minutes once. At least they have television. Then I got stink eye when I asked for chips and salsa!

Imagine my embarrassment when I discovered I was at Lex Brodies!

Got take out from Luquins on Saturday night - HUGE MISTAKE.

Placed my order by phone and was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. 50 minutes later I was still waiting.

As has been noted in other threads, more than a few people have commented on Luquin's jacking their prices when you go to pay. I was charged a take out fee PLUS a brown bag fee (for take out service). Yet when I received my order I did not receive a brown paper bag like previous people waiting for orders, rather was handed a bunch of to-go boxes, a bag of chips, and a loosely capped container of salsa.

Some of the posters in this thread have been of the "chill out and just relax cuz we're all stoned" mode. Some of us work multiple jobs and just want to get some quick take out food instead of having to cook when exhausted. Would have preferred relaxing at home instead of waiting around for an hour for a single appetizer to be ready.

I was too tired to head into Hilo or would have gone to Lucy's. Between dining in and ordering take to, have frequented Luquin's DOZENS of times over the years. Between dealing with inexperienced (and unprofessional) waitstaff on phone and in person and being charged for things I don't receive, PLUS only so-so food, gonna think long and hard before I decide to visit there again.

My wife and I go to Luquin's once a week.Always during the week when it's not crowded.
Only once did we wait a long time ,it was Cinco de Mayo.

Here is a feel good story about one of those rude, skinny servers.Pepper and Ana both give us big hugs everytime we go :

For those who think waiting for food is no big deal....

I go out to eat because I'm hungry. I don't know why you go out to eat, but I think most people are hungry when they choose to go to a place, and spend hard earned money, on prepared food.

And I like the mismatched punastyle. However I don't want to get sick eating somewhere because it's super filthy. If you eat there on a regular basis, maybe you just don't notice it as it's gotten worse over time. Last time I was in there I was stunned by how much more dirty it was from the last time we were there.

I've done work in this setting. I know it takes time to clean, but its not that hard to wipe stuff down every now and again. And use soap.
