Just a few more items to add this link has much information and it caught my eye about the refrigerator. "If staying in a home...turn the refrigerator to maximum cold and keep it closed. Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. Fill the bathtub with water for cleaning and Flushing in case the tap water becomes unavailable". mella l Art and Science Our Future http://www.ACaliforniaSoap.etsy.com/

Category 1 storms usually cause no significant structural damage to most well-constructed permanent structures; however, they can topple unanchored mobile homes, as well as uproot or snap numerous trees. Poorly attached roof shingles or tiles can blow off. Coastal flooding and pier damage are often associated with Category 1 storms. Power outages are typically widespread to extensive, sometimes lasting several days. Even though it is the least intense type of hurricane, the storm can still produce widespread damage and can be a life-threatening storm.[5]

The current forecast map shows the eye being on the other side of the island by 2AM Friday, does anyone know of any predictions on how long the thing will take to pass over us?

Its moving at 17mph so 10 hours is 170 miles.
But, I don't know how wide the entire storm actually is.

They said we should feel winds from the storm as far as 140 miles away from the storm, so I figure gentle winds should start in 5-6 hours gradually building till the eye hits.
