From West Hawaii Today:
"A federal judge who struck down Kauai County’s GMO and pesticide disclosure law will also decide the fate of Hawaii County’s ban on most genetically modified crops. Anti-GMO activists pushed for both laws last year, and arguments that they are pre-empted by state and federal law proved to be enough to find Kauai County’s law invalid Monday." http://westhawaiitoday.com/news/local-ne...big-island

Isn't this the same type of issue with the "lowest law enforcement priority" for marijuana possession/cultivation whereas the County believes their ordinance trumps State and Federal laws?
Or not?

County already "made a determination" that LLEP was trumped by State and/or Federal law.

Hawaii County should save the taxpayers' money and refuse to defend the law. Or, at the very least bill Ford and Willie and make them personally responsible for all legal fees.

A virtual Like for robguz. What a load of opala Ford and Willie have created for the Big Island, not the least of which was disrespect for both farmers and science.

This probably should have been in the politics session. The biggest problem with the orchestrated anti-GMO movement is that it fails to admit to the real state of GMO in Hawaii, and then all the misinformation added on to totally distort the whole field of bioengineering. It has also lead a whole bunch of people to get more stupid by being fixated on slang and buzz words.
We are only learning that we don't eat for ourselves, the human. We live because of a relationship with a symbiotic parasite, our gut bacteria. We eat what we do because 100 trillion gut bacteria alter our moods, behavior and food selection based on what they want. What they want isn't always the most beneficial for the host vehicle body. Most parasites are successful if they don't kill the host. However, our gut bacteria is passed on generation to generation from that first kiss on the lips from our mothers.
