Is there any place in the area where one can obtain 1-k kerosene?
It is a higher grade low sulpher kerosene suitable for kerosene stoves and lamps.
I think it might be time to unpack my Aladin kerosene lamps and get them ready to go for just-in-case.

I don't know if it is economical, but what is the lamp oil sold at walmart?

If you need more than a few gallons, you may try Air Service Hawaii at the Hilo airport:

In Alaska we used auto diesel from the pump for our heaters and it worked just as well as 1-k but of course it was venting outside.

Didn't think anyone had it "on tap" -- thanks for that.
Semi-related: what color gas can for 1K? Turns out I'm using more than expected....

I use yellow for diesel, blue for kerosene, green for combustible and of course red for fuel. Also have NATO cans with ID tags for what is inside. Oh, of course "clear" plastic for water.

The things sold in big-box stores as lamp oil usually is not suitable for use in a lamp with an Aladin mantle.
It will gum up the wick an make the lamp almost useless especially if it gets stored after use.
I know.
I found out the hard way several years ago.
I'm headed into town today for materials to make a shelter for the new generator.
I'll check with Hilo Propane while there.
I'll also stop by Ace in Pahoa and check them out on the way back.
Thanks folks.
This fuel thing is a PIA:
1-k kerosene for the Aladin lamps, non alcoholic gas for the lawn mower and weed wacker, gas/oil mix for the chain saw, gas or naphtha for the Coleman stove, just naphtha for the Coleman lantern, and propane for the grill and generator.
If the lava ever comes through here you'll be able to see me from Honolulu.
EDIT:
Hilo Propane does not carry it any more.
Ace in Pahoa has it in gallons and 2-1/2 gallons.
I've got mine.
