I realize the trades are taking a holiday but has anyone else noticed the increase in temperature for this time of year? I've been blaming my discomfort on hot flashes (curse of middle aged women) but even my husband has noticed. Here in Eden Roc we normally have to close our windows at night because it gets to chilly but lately even with 2 fans and no covers, we both are uncomfortable until very late in the night. Thought it was just me but my neighbor has made the same observation; what's your experience like?

My experience is that after 26 years in HPP I had to buy an air conditioner! My house is very small and it takes about 2 hours to cool down but I can feel the cold air circulating immediately after I turn it on and I love it! When I come home at 4pm and the temperature in my house is 95 degrees the air conditioner is a lifesaver! When the temp.gets down to about 82 I turn it off because I can deal with 82, but NOT 90 or 95!! aloha -

Sister Sue I can relate to the need for a/c in HPP! Can't tell you how many times I had my head in the freezer for so long the ice trays started melting! My Mom even offered to mail an a/c to me from the mainland! Hence, the move to the quiet (in spite of the periodical craziness) roc. Words can't even express the relief of feeling the cool air at about the 11 mile mark when I drive up the hill from expectedly hot Hilo. What I have noticed in the past few weeks is the unusual heat here at 1800', which lasts well into the night. I don't have an a/c and do enjoy keeping my electric bill around $100.00, usually in the $90 range. Not sure if it's weather patterns or perhaps heat from the lava and was just wondering if others have had unusually high temps.

It's summertime and it's been really dry since iselle left the building. I'm at 1600' and I too enjoy the relief elevation brings to the temperatures. I think September is the hottest month, cause summer has dried everything out. We should get some relief this weekend with some rain expected.

Guess we need to buy a bottle of chill pills...or maybe a 12 pack of 'em[
] Perhaps I should ask my surfer boy what's on sale at KTA.

Okole maluna! My spelling may be off but the sentiment is from the heart. My friend Janet put some things in better perspective for me when she made it clear they are not stressing over this and the world is not ending, well hopefully! Growing-up the words 'radical' and 'awesome' became trite as they were used for far too many things. This is indeed worthy of radical and awesome and instead of totally freaking I guess the best course is to observe, pray hard and often but just remember that as long as we have our loved ones safe and sound, everything else is minor. Things are just things.[^]

Hey now - let's be real. If it wasn't nice and sunny this time of year - it would be pouring rain. Personally I'll take the heat over the damp...

strange thing is earlier this week we has a 88°F degree day here at our place at 1,200' in MtView... wonder how hot it was in Hilo? etc. that day...
because the ALL TIME record for the whole state of Hawaii is only 100°F on April 27, 1931 Pahala, Kau Dist BI
