Freespirit, I'm sooo sorry to hear you and Denny have lost your jobs at this crucial time! Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

You still may be able to use the HwnShrs place as a vacation rental....none of us know what Pele's gonna do. Maybe if the tourist trade tanks, you could turn one of your places into a care home as we don't have as many in lower Puna as there are in the Kea'au area. It would be a totally different direction for you guys but I think it would be doable.

We are staying put in the People's Republic of Nanawale. Will hold steady as long as we can (safely) stay. Iselle was a "practice run" for preparedness and it also created a closer knit community (online and off). I won't say I am grateful that we were hit by the storm as I know so many people are still digging out, cleaning up and trying to mend their properties, but I am grateful for the many positive moments and massive amount of aloha which followed behind it.

we will be staying in Nanawale no matter what, abandoning the community barely even occurred to me. viva pahoa
