Car with loud bass and then a loud bang - Nanawale
#1
Have any Nanawale residents heard a car with a loud bass speaker driving around in the past few minutes (around 11:45pm)? Just went by my house slowly and then I heard what was either a backfire or a gunshot.

Should I call 911 or is there a non-emergency number? Am I being paranoid?

Grateful for any advice/recs.

The dreaded 'fart' car. Not being there at that moment I do not know. My experience with this type of moron is that the big bass and the lousy muffler go hand in hand!

just relax... Was anyone hurt? I highly doubt it was a drive by.

Where in Nanawale? It is a large area.

Serious question:

Doesn't HPD enforce the 70db noise limit for Ag zoning?

Or is that only on "public" roads?

Good luck with that. From my past experiences trying to get the police to do something about noise is like pulling teeth.

If you think there is a suspicious vehicle driving around, it doesn't hurt to call. I'm in Nanawale too and I've called the police before about a suspicious vehicle. They're usually very prompt about coming out.

well, good thing is when i walked the dogs today, i didn't see any dead mobsters on the side of the road. we live near the intersection of ginger and flower roads and rarely have cars go buy (much less one with super bass driving very slowly followed by a fart/bang/shot). thanks for your responses. i think it was just late, the dogs were freaking out for a while afterward and to top it off i heard something walking by the house (most likely a cat/dog/pig). it was pretty much the perfect opening shot for a b-rated horror movie. =)

Could have been a backfire. Cars with loud bass are usually operated by people in less than ideal monetary situations. Those types of situations are conducive to poorly running vehicles, which may be prone to backfiring.

Even more likely is that those who enjoy deafening themselves are also the ones who arrange their exhaust system to produce the most possible decibels.
