Showering so as not to "smell bad" is a cultural trait (for that matter, covering up perspiration odor is mainly an American fixation). I have lived among cultures where washing (river, stream, whatever is available) happens when possible, but certainly not every day, or however often Americans seem compelled to bathe. Showering is a luxury to a large part of the world, costly if available. People in Puna are often on the road or camping out, with less access to showers. I have been in that situation for weeks on end. It seems rather arrogant to me to judge the "unwashed."

quote: Wow, thanks! Plus, when one is stressed, certain parts of the skin, especially tender or exposed areas, do strange things. Enter the nostrils. Some would see a hippy, they get jealous, for obvious reasons, their nostrils emit a chemical, tricks them, they run the other direction, balance is restored. This reaction has been observed in groups too, like a mass hysteria, similar to group UFO sightings. We're so much like plants, it's not funny.

Lots to be thankful for at this time, and hopefully, the market will be open this coming week. (*Passing on the goat cheese, thanks, but spam musubi works. lol)
This is all part of the change upon us. This discussion, in the "old days", would not even be a subject. No need. You bathe in a galvanized tub filled with rain water, on the front porch, with one tea pot full of boiling water from the kerosene stove. Slick your hair back with VO5, and done. Only on Punaweb - someone posts that a market is closed and it evolves to showering and UFO group sightings.

I feel that due to my user name I must add something.
Ummmm. Something, something. Yada, yada, Chemtrails? Sorry TomK. I couldn't help myself.

In a tropical rainforest, where water isn't scarce, not bothering to bathe at all is inexcusable.
