I swear I posted on a thread same subject just a couple weeks ago, but can't find it so ...
When I was in my doctor's office very recently, there was a note on the waiting room door saying he was accepting new patients, and listing HMSA as one of the accepted insurers. He's an internist. I've been seeing him about eight years and have been very happy with his care.

Aloha Nani,
Although everyone is offering helpful info here, there seems to be some confusion between HMSA and HMAA. They are completely different insurance companies, and have different Docs on their networks, although some Dr's offer care to both plans. It does make a difference when considering who to contact.

Aloha Nui Family Practice, from what I remember they take most insurances. and are still taking new patients. One good about a group practice, there is always a doctor to cover if your PCP is not available!

Rene suggested Pahoa/Keaau Family Health Centers/Bay Clinic the doctors listed are on the HMAA list

I apologize, I had never heard of HMAA and assumed it was a typo. I went to the HMAA website and checked, and Dr. Morita is on their list of network providers.

LinW. No need to apologize. I only know because I've spent a lot of my professional life dealing with medical insurance companies.
I think it's in their handbook to confuse and confound people.

Hey, everybody, thanks for all your doctor reccomendations.
Between work and going to the hospital to see my husband, and hurricane prep, I did not get a chance to call these doctors.
I will start on that tomorrow.
I appreciate all the help.
You all helped make a tough situation a little bit easier.
Mahalo.

Hi everyone.
I did get a doctor for my husband.
The hospital gave me some referrals, and my husband was accepted by the Alohanui Family Practice.
Wow, what a relief.
Now my husband can get on the road to health.
He is healing just great from the surgery.
He gets out tomorrow, after being in the hospital for 2 weeks.
