CNET offers up this free test. Why not check your connection? Myself, I have DSL thru Hawaiian Tel Comm. It was tested at 196.4....that's really not that good! But it sure beats dial-up. For years I used Oceanic Cable on Oahu. It is far superior than the local DSL offered up in this region.
How about your bandwidth?

Hawaiiantel DSL and I am located in Orchidland.
977.9 Kbps through CNET
I usually test my bandwidth using
www.Speedtest.net because they have more locations to test from and show ping and upload speeds also. Testing through Unwired out of San Fransisco I get
2660 kbs Download
524 kbs Upload

At times I get close to 3 megs Down and 1 meg Up.

Try calling 808-643-4375.
I was very upset with how slow my DSL was. Apparently now the 3Mb service is the same price as older 1.5 service. I called to see if they could do anything and they told me my account had been set up as a 768Kb line for some reason. He did something and the speed tripled to 2.2Mb. It is absolutely worth calling. I was so glad I did!

Yes, I think that was their DSL tech support number, or at least a way to get to it.
