anyone hear the segment on NPR within the past half-hour?

tugged the heartstrings a little to hear the fate of our beloved little Pahoa town brought up by the familiar voices on NPR. a nice bonus was the perfect pronunciation of "Pahoa" by host Audi Cornish.

was an extended interview by telephone with Tiffany Hunt from their shop in Pahoa. thought she did quite well in answering the questions. ...Tiffany did mention the abundance of "armchair Vulcanologists". ha! i think i know what she is talking about....~

Yes, I heard the interview with Tiffany too. I though she explained the situation quite well, describing the sense of impending loss, the waiting, and how the lava is the only thing any one can talk about in Pahoa today. (Is there any thing else?)

A great interview.

(BBM) Now, if we could only get people to say, "Pele" instead of "PayLay", (ugh! [xx(]lol...) Just sayin'.

Here is yet another, titled:

"Burning Questions: What's Going On With The Hawaiian Menace"

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/burn...ce-n235001

For the love of God! Interesting, no? Menace? Gotta love the media. Now, Puna is in the limelight. What do we do about it? (Rhetoric, of course. Going back to thinking, making Spam musubi, saving a few for Obie. [Big Grin])

JMO.

ETA: HOTPE, agreed! It was a very good interview. Puna needs all of the exposure we can get at this time. Mahalo.

Tiffany did a good job on NPR (I don't know her). She articulated something that I imagine some others were thinking: if the lava slices through town and the Post Office is evacuated (both events seem highly likely) then the town will die.

I'm sure I'll get lotsa flak...be kind and safe, all[:I]

Beautifully written article, Frankie. [Smile]
Noticeably lacking in farfetched analogies and purple prose, realistic, fact-oriented yet sensible to the emotions of the moment and nostalgia for the past.

nice job, Frankie! i'd say an excellent contribution with a fine local sense.

a mixed and changing bag of emotions fueled by nostalgic memories beginning to set in more firmly as what we have been imagining has become so near...

the title of the CNN article, "As Hawaii lava flow threatens town, looters hit evacuated homes", compared to the limited content backing up the contention of the headline gives me the impression of someone in the newsroom indulging in the typical sensationalized attention-getting slant. i'd prefer there was some better verification before such colorful headlines are tossed around by CNN.

Pele has just been called out by NBC News:
