I tried to get gas there a couple times. Ridiculously long line, only to have my card not swipe. Never again.

What's the price of diesel?

I had no problem there getting gas and used my couple points and got 30 cents lower per gal - $3.45/gal (cash price) and little wait.

I think diesel was a little over $4 a gallon, but definitely much cheaper than anywhere I've seen before. I filled up there tonight for $3.55 a gallon after getting a discount of 20 cents per gallon after shopping at Safeway. No problem with the card reader and no lines (early evening Saturday).

The lines there come and go like anywhere. Not as bad as Costco.
Right after people get off work is not the best time, not surprisingly.

I like the cash discount for using a debit card, as I would use it wherever I went but other places don't give it. We save the gas rewards up to fill up the truck, which is an expensive fill. Best deal in town I think.

If the pump reader has trouble with your card, you can go up to the window. I've never had that experience there, but card readers can go on the fritz anywhere, or the card can get hard to read. I would not give up on a place based on one experience -- but hey, I shouldn't encourage people as it will be more crowded for me. [Smile]

Kathy,
when you use your debit card there, are they still putting $100 on hold in your account for a day or two no matter how much you spend? I've never understood why all gas stations seem to do this but it sure messes up my bookkeeping and often I don't have the extra $.

I've been reluctant to try it for this reason, though would love to get the cash price at the pump.

I think they still take cash at the window...

They recently lengthened their hoses and began enforcing a "one way" rule (I've even seen a guy out there in a reflective vest directing traffic) so theoretically you could park at any pump regardless of which side of your car your gas hole is on. Unfortunately the pump hoses are BARELY long enough to reach the far side of most vehicles so most people are reluctant to try it. I can do it with my pickup truck but I wouldn't try it with an SUV. They really need to ditch their hose extensions and get ones that are about twice as long.

Most of the time my wait is less than 3 minutes. It always looks worse than it is.

JG - I'm not aware I've ever had a $100 hold put on my debit card when buying gas. Wow, that would mess me up too. I'm sure I have bought gas when I didn't have $100 in my account, and I know my son probably never has a $100 to spare. He's never had an issue.

I've had this with rental cars and hotels, but they've always informed me.

About the one way -- it was chaotic and leading to anger with people entering from both directions. I don't try to wrap the hose around.

Safeway gas rewards can also still be used at Chevron if you want, but the gas costs more and 2 rewards is the max.
