Nothing remarkable about the story itself, just that even people in India are interested.

Lava Flow Threatens Coastal Village in Hawaii
http://online.wsj.com/articles/lava-flow...1414538471

See you later, I'm headed down to catch a few waves at Pahoa Beach. And what a coincidence, both the surf and the market are up today! Hey wait a minute WSJ, where's the water?

For anyone who has a mailing address that uses the town of Pahoa in the address line, please share the name of the neighborhood you live in.
I wonder why anyone not from this area might label the entire area as Pahoa?
Could it be that since the U.S. postal service calls this region Pahoa, it might be generally considered Pahoa?

I'm sorry, but for the purposes of national reporting, Pahoa is correct.
Each subdivision here is a subdivision in Pahoa and therefore Pahoa is coastal. Many people living on the coast, live on the outskirts of the village of Pahoa.

From the International Business Times:
Kilauea Update: Hawaii Lava Flow Complicates Volcano Tourism

Volcano tour companies and locals said they aren't sure how bad it will get.

On the other hand, DeVita said, it could entirely shut down the area and make tours even harder to conduct. ... That could kill the local economy that’s built on tourists coming to catch a bit of the Hawaiian countryside and on agriculture. Bed-and-breakfasts would have fewer guests, bars and restaurants fewer patrons.

I used to live in Seaview (which as we sometimes joked is neither Kalapana nor estates, but 1 out of 3 ain't bad), which has a Pahoa mailing address. However, we would still "go to Pahoa," meaning the place that has a lava threat and is most certainly NOT a seaside village.

Positive, upbeat interviews with a few folks in Kalapana who know it's possible to live with lava:

Another great story about folks in Kalapana adapting to life after the flow.

Rebuilt Hawaii town offers look at life after lava

Robert Keliihoomalu, who has lived in Kalapana for all his 75 years, said lava reminds people to be humble, kind, understanding and open because it can't be controlled.

"It brings everybody close," said Keliihoomalu, whose home has been spared from past flows.

Despite fact lava may soon inundate Malama Market area and cross Highway 130, a quick check of Google news failed to find a single mention in any news within last hour.

For comparison there are almost 2000 news items on Ebola, and over 2000 containing word Obama.

Similarly only 6 reports worldwide mention a Super Typhoon due to hit the Philippines In 2-3 days. Winds are 235 mph and waves 50 feet. Evacuation of 500,000 residents is recommended for just 1 island in the path. Predicted storm surge is 12-15 feet and tens of thousands of homes will be destroyed.

The ability to report coming events even of giant magnitude seems to be hindered by a public that demands to see a photo.
