helicopter class action suit??
#1
I heard there's a class-action suit against the helicopter tour companies, but can't find any info about it. Does anyone know?

I heard a similar suit in LA was won by residents.

They should have a class action against the BS road construction and unbelievable backups. Why can't they work at night like every other road crew in the U.S. Oh yeah it's Hawaii. On busy roads, they work at night. Jesus no flaggers, they stand right in the road when their not standing around with their thumbs up their posteriors. Such a joke. An hour from Keaau.

My immediate reaction is one of curiosity, like "who are they?" . I guess my own next step would be to go to the Airport and research the details. Haven't gotten beyond the "why does the sky above Eden Roc look like a scene from Groening's 'Futurama' opening." at the moment.

... Lee seems to understand more about the situation... It may be a very good idea. Perhaps others have questions?

my usually very reliable source only knew that she'd heard it, and thought it had something to do with radio station KWXX. The person we spoke to at KWXX doesn't know anything about it, and their webpage doesn't have anything about it.

IMO, the airport would be the worst place to research it; you gotta figure folks there would be against a lawsuit that might hurt their livelihood.

This may be a just a rumor, pipe dream, or wishful thinking on the part of somebody; at best it's hearsay. I was hoping someone here had more info.

I've heard lots of radio ads from a group called United Mountain View Coalition complaining about helicopter noise and urging folks to complain to authorities. Here is their website: http://www.umvc.org/

Maybe this is what Lee is referring to

I am glad to hear that someone is actually starting a concerted effort to deal with this menace. It is a problem that can be changed if folks want to get involved. I am sending a donation and will send letters. bravo UMVC! http://www.umvc.org/

The best thing that you can do is contact Hawaii's representatives in the senate and congress. When they receive a complaint that a federal agency isn't doing their job they send a letter to the agency. The agency is obligated to respond to all congressional inquires, and if they want to continue to receive funding (keep their jobs) they have to demonstrate that they are doing their jobs. I visited the umvc.org web site and their headline that their are no FAA inspectors on the big island isn't true. They may not be based here but they are obligated to travel as necessary.
