Dude, that's from 2007? And where does it say anything about high rents in Hamakua? She says on tripadvisor she moved there last year? Ya'll are operating on false and old information and trying to use it to harass people just because you disagree with them. That doesn't make you righteous. It makes you creepy and obsessive.

"I see where some have posted information to counter the DE's even posting official State and county links to verify ocean or road conditions."

Um, it's the "DEs" who have repeatedly posted those official links. Over and over.

Ya'll are crossing over into delusional territory. Might be time to take a step back. But whatevs.

Golly gee wiz.
If you think we are wrong, you make fun of our crack research teams. Then, when you find out the crack research team is mostly correct, you call the person creepy & obsessive.
Almost everything you've written is simply a series of name calling, berating & heckling. Why don't you stop acting like you're in third grade, unless you are? If you really thought you had a point, you could just make a point.
In case you haven't noticed, SheaG's posts about herself don't always add up or make complete sense in time, place, or facts. So don't expect us to do better when we're just quoting her. We all wish we could go from "can't afford the rent" to "have 3 houses" in less than 7 years.

Not going to get into the Puna stuff, but the DEs are not experts on Mauna Kea yet they post the most misleading stuff about the place and are factually wrong. This isn't an opinion thing, they post stuff that is wrong.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29...l#62461234

"The summit is closed at night, because headlights cause light pollution that interferes with the astronomy. All tours are required to leave shortly after the sunset."

The summit is not closed at night nor are tours required to leave shortly after sunset.

Probably the strangest topic I saw is full of the most blatant misinformation; here it is:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29...awaii.html

"The summit closes just after sunset so the tours get there just before, you can watch and photograph the sunset[...]"

More stuff about the summit closing, and the stuff about people suffering from altitude sickness was ridiculous, but from both sides of the argument.

However, no way are those quotes from an "expert". It troubles me that someone who clearly isn't an expert in a field I know a little about also posts "expert" opinions about other places that I don't have so much knowledge about. That certainly brings up a big and very bright red flag for me.

The crack research team isn't "mostly correct". In the present tense you said this person was single, couldn't get a job, or afford rent "in Hamakua" and then when challenged to produce evidence, point to an almost 8 year old post that doesn't say half of that. All you have to do is look at her tripadvisor profile and posts, golly gee whiz. It's not very hard. My point is if you're going to stalk somebody at least show some skillz. She stays at $2000 per night hotels and has $500 per person dinners. I don't think rent is an issue. I haven't seen any posts that don't make sense in time, place or facts. Maybe you can't do better now than you did eight years ago, she clearly doesn't have that problem. Maybe she married well or made a killing in the stock market, who the frick knows.

All that aside, what's YOUR point? You really think freaking out about somebody's crappy opinion of Puna justifies your creepy stalking?

Once again, I managed to lose a sock doing the laundry. I wondered where it got to.

Mermadsz, please enlighten us how TA works. I'd like to know how threads disappear.

If you're not SheaG, then why do you believe her bragging? Anyone can write anything!

Even if she has "married well", who cares? She still talks nonsense on TA.

Yes she removed it because every post she made was getting attacked by either SheaG or KathyH they hijacked the whole thread to make it into a whats bad about Pahoa and lower puna.
________________________

When people like KathyH and SheaG accepted the position to represent the Big Island they have the responsibility to ALL of the communities and potential visitors to do this in a professional and unbiased way. The Islands main source of income is from tourism. There postings have hurt financially many businesses and vacation rentals.

For example a potential visitor may post that they have already made their vacation plans to stay in a certain place in Puna and simply wants to know where a good place to eat would be or a place to visit?

I have seen where they have manipulated the whole thread and got the vacationer to change their vacation plans lodging and everything away from Puna to another area. Simply because THEY (the DE's) thought the vacationers would have a better time by staying somewhere else on a different part of the island.

What gives them the right to do this to the vacationers? Not only does the visitor now have to change their plans for lodging from the original area the businesses and community is now out of the potential income. Simply because of their bias views and there power trip of the title of a Destination Expert.

There are many vacation rental homes in the lower Puna area that are listed on FLIPKEY (over 100 listed) which is part of Tripadvisor. FLIPKEY does not charge the property owner a listing fee FLIPKEY they receive a % of the lodging fee when someone reserves one of the properties listed on their site. FLIPKEYS vacation rentals are also listed on Tripadvisor.

NOT only have the "DE" been using their authority to take tourism income away from Lower Puna business owners, vacation rental owners, community and the county in tax revenue.

Their actions are affecting a much larger company FLIPKEY and any potential revenue they could receive from reservations being made from listed vacation rentals in lower Puna. Yes FLIPKEY is part of Tripadvisor so if rentals in Lower Puna listed on FLIPKEY loose bookings or even one booking in lower Puna due to DE’s actions they are also affecting potential income in an indirect way to also Tripadvisor.

We have a vacation rental that we have listed on FLIPKEY. I have alerted FLIPKEY of the “Destination Experts” actions and also sent proof of postings they have done along with complete printed copies of threads showing that they are purposely deterring visitors from the lower Puna area thus effecting potential income they could receive.

I encourage other vacation rental owners listed on FLIPKEY to do the same!

If FLIPKEY does not take some type of action I will be removing our vacation listing from there site since they are part of Tripadvisor which is allowing certain "Destination Experts" who are supposed to represent ALL of the Island. Which they are not and are using their authority to deter potential renters from my property simply due to the location it is in because they do not want travelers to vacation in lower Puna because of there own personal reasons and/or experiences.

KathyH and SheaG do not realize there actions also affect potential revenue for FLIPKEY which again is part of Tripadvisor.

What they are doing is a SERIOUS issue and much, much larger then they even realize!
