Good Hairstylist?
#1
Now that Supercuts in Pahoa is closed, does anyone have a recommendation for a good stylist for a woman's haircut ( affordable & talented - NO weedwhack job! ) in Keaau/Pahoa area? Thanks so much!

Supercuts moved to Keaau, next to Lemongrass in part of the failed restaurant location. There is also a place in the Keaau Marketplace, but the woman there doesn't like to take walk ins.

Supercuts uses apprentice stylists, generally with one licensed stylist present.

Le Salon on Moku St (Leilani Estates), Tracey @ 965-8987. Under $20 for a regular cut.

I haven't used Tracey yet myself but she comes recommended on the Leilani message board.

If you want the top guy in Puna you'll need to find Mitch, sorry I don't have his number, works out of his house. He walked away from Hollywood, doing hair for the top stars, traded it in for the simple life in Puna. I've seen his work and he's the real deal, a bit pricey for us, but a fraction of a high end mainland salon. If you want a make-over, he's the guy. Be prepared to be beautiful.

That said, I'm sticking with Sandra at Supercuts in Keaau, transferred from Pahoa. I've never been disappointed by her but someday I'll check out Mitch just for fun.

Mitch is still working from his place in Hawaiian Beaches. "Big Wig Salon" is the name of his place.
