Obama - Air Force one?? - Hilo airport?
#1
I wonder if Obama did come to see the flow. The guests from our vacation rental called yesterday morning to let us know they arrived late on Friday due to there flights being delayed because of the President plane.

I said I knew he was asked if he wanted to come see the flow but thought he probably would not show. Her comment was well he must have decided to as Air force One was at the airport and there and was security all over and many flights were delayed from HNL that were all scheduled to this island.

I did not ask if she flew into Hilo or Kona airport I assumed Hilo since the rental is over on this side.

So maybe??? [?]

I do know that Hilo Airport is used to park the Air Force 1 back-up plane. This is possibly what they saw.

OH Ok... as you would think if Obama actually did come to see the flow - everyone and their brother would know about it.

That is the Boeing E-4 Advanced Airborne Command Post, aka "The Doomsday Plane".

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_E-4

It was originally called the National Emergency Airborne Command Post (NEACP) (often pronounced "kneecap"). The aircraft was to provide a survivable platform to conduct war operations in the event of a nuclear attack.

It's always at ITO when Obama is holidaying in Oahu.

My fellow Americans;
This is your President. I am writing this from the computer of my good friend snorkle. I have been graciously invited to spend a few days decompressing at his rustic home in Puna. I can tell you that his wife's biscuits indeed are like fiberglass, but do, in fact, taste a little better.

snorkle has offered to take me to Pohoiki today for a body surfing session at Bowls. Please don't drop in on me, as my Secret Service escorts are likely to pound you like an Opihi.

Directly following the water session, I will be posing for pictures in the new Lifeguard module which, by the way, will be designated as Air Force One while I am on board.

A presidential Bar-B-que will follow. Any food offered me will be tasted by the County Water patrol staff for toxins. My Secret Service taster succumbed to Ms. snorkles biscuits.(Just kidding, LOL, smiley face)

Thank you for hosting me in your district, and please contact me if the Lava does any substantial damage to your community.

Your friend and President,
Barry

The plane in Hilo is the "backup" Doomsday plane. I can't remember how many Doomsday planes they have. The "primary" Doomsday plane was in HNL close to the President.

"Air Force One" isn't a particular aircraft, it is whatever aircraft the President is in. The Doomsday plane is mostly full of military communications hardware and has few creature comforts and the President doesn't normally fly in it.

This is Sunday. There are photos of him and family getting off Air Force One in Washington DC about 9 hours ago. Obama, the Hawaiian local, has sent out several press releases since then.
