Just heard a rumour about a new Indian restaurant opening in the Hilo Shopping Center. Apparently there is a connection with the Indian restaurant that closed in Kona some time ago. Anyone know anything about this? I really miss not living near a decent Indian place.
Thanks.

We went to Kamana Kitchen New Years Day (we had been awaiting their opening!).
Nice spice use, good portion size, and they have a thali type lunch until 3pm
They have a tandoor & I have missed peshwari naan since the one still in Kona is a trek for me...but Jim goes to their Kona location (but loved the other venue that was next to Fishhoppers)

Thank you so much, Carey! Maybe I was thinking of the old location in Kona - I don't go over there much these days.
Do you know if they do take-out? They don't mention this on their website.

Yes they do (we did ask, but did eat in)
Luckily, I do not need to go to Kona much, either, as Jim is stuck doing all of the "need to go to Kona" things!

My quandary now is whether to tell all the other Brits at the observatories. If I do, it might make it hard for anyone else to get a table. On the other hand, telling them might mean we keep the restaurant in business for perpetuity...

I am a big fan of good Indian food, one of my favorites. I've been searching for 10 years in Hilo. Nothing was even close. I was very impressed at the Kona location (behind Bubba Gumps) and go quite often.
Now they are in Hilo, I will be visiting often.
I lived 2 years near 6th street in the east village in New York City on "Indian Row" and these guys certainly belong with the best of them.
Can't wait to visit the new location closer to home in Hilo.

I'll certainly be darkening their door. It better be hot!
