Palikapu Dedman with the Pele Defense Fund
#61
No foolin... This site is in danger of denigrating from an interesting cultural bridge, to a bunch of old white guys sniveling about a disinfranchised minority host.

Shame on you.

Unfortunately assigning Hawaiian descendants a "victim" label, things got spun out...reverse racism, crippling the Hawaiians by offering them a welfare lifestyle, us vs. them mentality etc..

Time to let go of all of the angst and give Mr. Dedman the respect he deserves because his work will protect all the people of Hawaii by honoring the Aina and the host culture. It's a win-win all the way, he's a noble man.

I seen much disrespect from many of the same screen names as I've just stayed in the background recently. Let um go da kine because these people think they have Hawaii all figured out, more then the Hawaiian, more than the born n raised and more than the kamaaina so just let them live in their delusion.

I wonder what the reaction would be if Councilperson Illagan proposed a PGV health study focusing solely on Pinoys?

Time to let go of all of the angst

True enough.
I think it's easy for comments on all sides of this issue to cause a reaction.

If I may use a current example. After the shootings in Paris, many Muslims pointed out that they shouldn't be held responsible for an act they had no part of, and would never condone, just because another Muslim was the perpetrator. In the same way as a Christian doesn't need to apologize for an act of another Christian.

There are Hawaiian reformers such as Mr. Dedman and Kau Inoa who do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of all other Hawaiians, and we shouldn't make comments as if they do.

Likewise, there are many non-Hawaiians who had nothing to do with the overthrow the Kingdom in 1893, and shouldn't be held accountable for that action because they live here now.
