interesting site, lavarat, thanks! actually, according to the Heating Oil and Propane Update i see there it looks like US avg residential propane prices are almost flat with just a very slight drop if any in the past several months (blue line, 2014-2015). US eastern and midwest avg wholesale prices appear to have dropped a bit though. unfortunately i do not see any propane info on Hawaii specifically, or even any whatsoever for the entire west coast. regardless, i can't recall ever seeing propane prices drop up here with the exception of those periodic dollar discount promotionals. not saying prices will never drop here due to a national downward trend in prices, just that it seems more likely the current drop may be more locally oriented. will check Keaau see if they also dropped a dollar or so recently.

OrchidLand True Value is pretty expensive for some things, cheap for others. I buy my half gallon mason jars there for just under $14.00 for a 6 pack. That's the cheapest price I've seen in Keaau, Pahoa OR Hilo, including WalMart.
When I need a bottle of cheap wine, or a salad dressing, or whatever I forgot to purchase and I need to get to complete my dinner I'm thankful to have a store just a few blocks away. Dayna http://www.FarmingAloha.com www.E-Z-Caps.com

Hawaii isn't really part of the US pricing on most commodities, especially fossil fuels.

i don't know, but wouldn't surprise me if that were more or less true, Kalakoa. information for the entire west coast along with Hawaii is missing from US Dept of Energy page above. hard to make a conclusion from a source without the adequate info.

Exactly: gas is $1.69/gallon in some parts of "the US", but it's still over $3/gallon locally.
