Hawaiian acres roads/community association
hi barry. yes HARC wants homeowners to maintain the easement! and your neighbors will love you for it. but dont use the center of the road as your quide! use the power poles.
I really encourage you to go to the community center and talk to them. get to know them and get involved. there is alot of misinformation that appears on punaweb and it is always better to get it from the "horse's mouth" instead of semi-facts.

barry sure weed wack the frontage of your property, but i would be cautious before going ahead and digging or cutting in frontage of other properties. the lawsuit that is in the courts right now against HACA and HARC deals with this issue . the person who was trimming the corner of 10 and C may not have realized ( since someone pulled out the boundary pin) that they were actually on private property.

We have reported this to law enforcement and they acknowledge the gravity of the situation, their advice to us ,wear gloves when picking up the used needles and discard properly.
You have you head in the sand Birchl because the addicts are everywhere around you ,even on Rd 2 is an abandoned shack where they go to shoot up,between F and G.
The owner of the lot and shack is in Arizona,we went tax office and got the mailing address and sent a certified letter, explaining but never heard any thing back.
We let law enforcement know and gave them copies of the correspondence.Recently on Road 1 and D where the bus stop is,we have been finding in the wee hours of dawn, when we drop of one of the grand kids for the bus, discarded needles and drug baggies ,which we dispose of properly.
We have attended in the past the community watch meetings at HACA and spoken to the community policing officer,he took down the information we presented and nothing ever came of it.
In Hilo the needles are EVERYWHERE and seems like now herein H.A. the situation is getting worse by the day.
Birchl, start taking walks of 3 to 6 miles a day in H.A. and let us know about all the opala you find and have picked up an how many needles and drug baggies that are used.
We will gladly wait for your reply back.
In addition, you keep saying in this thread that so much kala is pouring in,no need mandatory dues. How do you know this ?
One last thing Birchl - do you pay your road dues like we do ?

Mrs Mimosa

1) i did not say i had never seen paraphernalia. i said i had never seen discarded needles. every kind of drug that taken is sold in those little baggies, and yes like the shopping bags and beer cans they are everywhere. ice is a different problem from heroine. no i have not had my head in the sand i just do not choose to exaggerate the problems in my community simply because it makes me look concerned.

2) i have never said 'money is poring in and there is no need for mandatory dues' i do not know why you think i did. i have never said anything close to that and i object to you making out i did.

3) it is none of your business what i pay or to whom. i am not the one constantly complaining about the fact that the one lot of dues you pay for your 'many lots' doesn't cover the repairs for all of them!!

dear justthefacts ,,do I know you ?,,

( cool thanks mimosa ,,, didn't want to step on any toes,,,, so the sides of the road I can weed wack to keep from scraping up the new truck, ? from center of the road to the phone poles ? )

this was my response to the kind mimosa

and this is your response to me I guess ?

id like to know why you understood me to be asking could I dig or cut into other peoples lots ? is that common here ? I was asking for clarification on the right of ways , easement and such,,, I wouldn't think of going over anyone's line ,, I believe that's trespassing . here are a couple of responses I received to my asking for help and knowledge,,,, please read ,,(

from lquade ( hi barry. yes HARC wants homeowners to maintain the easement! and your neighbors will love you for it. but dont use the center of the road as your guide! use the power poles.

from mimosa

(On Road 1 - in many places, the power and phone poles are not in the 5 foot easement and are actually in the lot on private property.
Even on Road 8 ( Moho ) the poles are not standard as far as the 5 foot easement goes.
In the 1980s we had a very nasty neighbor who was on the FBIs most wanted list.eventually the federal marshals came in and arrested him and off he went to mainland. But when here,he would steal from his neighbors, throw dead pig an goat carcasses in his neighbors yards and put dog doo doo in peoples locks.
Now with the advent of motion sensor cams 24/7 - this type of harassment can be recorded and turned over to law enforcement. We have 6 of these cams from the front gate to the interior of the main house and more.
Most neighbors we know have the same .
Weed eat all you want, check with your neighbors and see if thy have any other suggestions or may wish to help out .
Beautifying the roads is always welcome in H.A.
We keep our 1/2 mile of road cut back both sides, the whole 40 foot width.
Looks like a park and is very nice,in addition less opala and in dry times such as we are in currently,if there is a range fire, then creates a fire break for the safety of the neighborhood.

Mrs . Mimosa

I will certainly go to the office and seek clarification on what is allowed and what isn't,,,, thankyou for your harsh tone and advice,,,

as for the poor old guy cleaning up the corner of the road,,, all I can say is maybe he owns the lots on the corner,,, maybe he is just a good neighbor,, maybe he is just trying to make our area cleaner and beautiful ,, maybe even attract others to come here ,, and if he doesn't own the lot in question ,, , maybe the owner does like his help in cleaning up the area,,, and maybe he was trespassing,,,, ill have to look into that,!

regardless thank you for your tone and advice,,, look forward to meeting you . aloha

Funny, earlier in this thread it's suggested that HARC doesn't want any help, just money.

I still don't see where anyone can tell a landowner how, whether, or where to trim on their own property. I must be new here.

kala thats the way it seems HARC just wants money , helps pay there legal expenses and i agree they can not tell people what they can or cannot do on their property . barry . the guy who owns the corner lot is off island , alaska and the guy who is caretaker is a young guy . and as to the road width they are 30' its in the subdivision plan from the 1950's . and perhaps i might know you ??? it is always nice to keep the grass cut, but i would atleast check with the property owner , i'm sure you agree.

Plat maps clearly show 40' roadway.
Reply
kala where is the approved county amendment or addendum to the original 1950s subdivision plan . that is key in clarification to the issue of the roads width.

dear kalakoa ,,,, I just left the office after talking with the nice young man in the office,,,, he told me ,,,,

a the numbered roads are 40 ft wide measured from center of road or as a licensed surveyor lays his bench mark,,,
b the telephone poles that helco has installed on road 10 are as close as possible to being placed within a foot or so ,, to
match the ( as built plan )five foot from the edge of the private property lines.

c the road board actively seeks that the homeowners do as much as they can to keep the numbered roads passable ,, clear of trash
and debris ,,, up to the point that matching funds are available for small expenses as to this issue.

I have no reason to distrust what I was told and I don't. maybe this will clear up this pint ,, thank you for your input.
