Didn’t hear boo about permits for this, or is this why we haven’t had meetings

Multiple notifications were sent out to lot owners in the local area and the special use permit was issued in the first half of 2016 by the Windward Planning Commission. In addition, Verizon did a presentation at one of the association meetings during that time period.

is that on a twenty acre lot? I didn’t know there was one at 3rd and Kaloli.

No Eight Fingers it’s someone’s 1 acre private lot that was something the GM brought up when they were still having meetings was that if HPP didn’t do it on one of our 20 acre parcels and collected the income for HPPOA a private property owner would do it and get the income themselves

Ok, if they got their permits legit and in the open can’t blame someone for trying to make some extra cash

Here's the background report. It's pretty extensive. 103 pages.

It's a miracle! How did they get that done without anyone blocking it?
Thanks for the info Obie. Does anyone happen to know roughly what sort of income this will generate?

I had a friend in Kaimu bid on a tower. If I remember correctly, the company that constructs the tower contacts property owners in the area where cell coverage is needed. Those lot owners bid on the lease.

I believe the lease payment may also increase if multiple users attach transmitters to the mast; cell services, microwave, etc.

Verizon's representative approached the association (around 2015?), prior to approaching myself, and they either weren't interested or felt the deed restrictions on the nearby 20 acre parcels didn't allow for the tower. The association was going through some difficult times then (and still may be, but that is another thread), so that might have also been a factor in what was communicated to the representative and then secondhand to me.

The decision was never about the lease revenue. It was about having Verizon pay to run fiber to the area for their tower. Multiple parties, including myself, are using the spare strands of fiber. Dozens of people, perhaps over 100, are getting their internet service from these circuits through re-sellers and likely don't even know it. Spectrum ran cable last year, but still isn't offering service in the area. Business rates for these circuits are not cheap and the circuits are not available for consumer pricing. For me, once I pay taxes, insurance, and for my circuit, it's a wash.
