what is new about Puna's geothermal?
#51
Hahaha, Lol. We can laugh at ourselves so go ahead and have your fun at our expense. We are thankful to have such compassionate neighbors as you both Opihikao and leilanidude. You both probably knew for weeks what was going on with the drilling of phase 1, you chose to be quiet even though others like ironyak repeatedly asked if geothermal was drilling yet. Then you both choose to jump all over those who are the most concerned for their aina or neighbors quality of life. Please Opihikao repost my other response that said we THINK we heard this drilling, we heard something all night from down there, we don't believe it was nothing. We will only become stronger through this embarrassment you want us to feel, we now vow to drive the extra miles for ourselves and the great leilanidude with our binoculars to learn as much as possible about our good clean green non-pollutant neighbor ORMAT.

gypsy69, I posted the message from PGV to save you further embarrassment. Nothing about this is funny. Especially when people are cajoled to call police, fire, Dept. of Health to complain, when they weren't even drilling. Beyond comprehension. I'm not laughing about any of this. At all.

Additionally, I did quote your post that said you "THINK" it was drilling (see above).

JMO.

ETA: PGV is a neighbor, and as of late (awarded another 25MG project), are not going anywhere soon. Further, I'm just tired of misinformation which leads to unnecessary discussion, and asumptions made based on nonfactual statements. Strongly suggest you get the information from PGV directly in the future, and not wait for it to appear on a forum.

Opihikao, my apology for I missed your repost of my use of the word Think. You are sadly correct about their additional 25 mw contract and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. Thank you for the saving of such community embarrassment, now I have a better idea to how Ormat's geothermal plant here in Puna must have felt many times for their planned waste releases over their community.
We could in no way evacuate when asked too during the release of geothermals waste on the evening of the hurricane. Since then we admit we have been a bit uneasy or nervous with their daily operations. We need some peace.

For your own sanity and that of your children, why don't you just move? I mean, it's killing you, your wife, your children and the mental anguish you just can't handle.

At this point, all that you state you are going through I think would border along child abuse. Almost all of your posts are about how PGV is killing you and you and your wife have made your self diagnosis. Heck, they are even killing the Ohia tree's at this point.

Save yourself, save your family and move already! If I actually believe half of what you do about PGV and I would have moved my family a long, long, long time ago regardless of any costs.

gypsy69 - All this proves is that you and the others, who have heard NOTHING, yet still try to claim that the FAKE noises you claim to hear, are from the PGV plant. You have ZERO credibility at this point.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Here is a little snippet of a news article and the grandpoobah of Puna Porno's response :

"A molten trail of lava from an eruption in June is currently snaking toward Pahoa, where the plant’s underground wells, control rooms and offices are located. As of early October, the lava flow was just about two miles away from Pahoa Village Road, a couple of blocks from the high school where the Puna Pono Alliance meets, not far from the geothermal plant. In an email, Petricci attributed the phenomenon to Pele “pointing at PGV, in an amazing display of power” as retribution for the latest accident at the plant. “The east rift zone is not for geothermal, it never was,” he writes. “[It] belongs to Pele.”

Full article for Obie's quote - well worth a read focusing on the personalities involved with geothermal.

The links to the arguments between Chris Lee, chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Environmental Protection, and Mililani Trask, who consults for IDG one of the bidders for the recent 25 MW geothermal plant, are informative as well.

Thanks for the link, Ironyak. Obie is often a little remiss when it comes to quoting sources. However, the quotation appears to be accurate.

I'm all for supporting tradition and culture, but to assign intelligence to a volcano doesn't sit well with me. It's medieval thinking at its worst.

Welcome back Ironyak, your research skills are still very impressive. Great article, enjoyed the reading material very much. Seemed unbiased as both patricci, Trask, and others openly shared their views or opinions regarding future and past geothermal productions here in lower Puna.
P.S. Ironyak if you do happen to take a drive out this way, to have a look or to try to listen for the drilling pollution would you be open to some company? Be an honor to meet you in person.

Mr. Gypsy
It is easy to be an opponent.

This group Puna Pono Alliance interests me.

Does anyone in the group advocate practical workable alternatives?

Ask the group if they would support a 100% fossil, wind, geothermal, alternative?
