Hmmm, I think body weight might have a play in this too.. Also, Changing cloths regularly and (dry) cloths at that! Also, depending on where you live. Do you live up in fern forest or Volcano? Nothing really get's DRY there. Especially rainy weather like we have been having. Maybe try hawaiian beaches! Big Grin Dry out in HOT Weather. Have you considered what you sit on or even sleep on? Yeah, man, change those sheets regularly and make sure they are DRY!!!!

I would imagine I would or could have skin issues if I didn't have dry/clean changed out regularly, dry clothes, sheets and towels to (dry off) on. Too many variables in hawaii to nail down each's own living situations.

Once I had the window open next to the couch and didn't realize in the day the wind was blowing in the rain and hitting the side of the couch, and who knows how long this was going on while we were not home. But, I started smelling funky mold smell .... So now I just close that window when we aren't home, solved that problem. Esp, when a few weeks / months of hawaiian beaches HOT days cured it. But, as you could imagine living up in the rain forest ... probably would have had to toss it.

Think I'll drop out of this thread right now because otherwise (1) I'll get annoyed and (2) I'll annoy some others.

I'm being rhetorical since you have dropped out of this thread, but I have come to the conclusion that many in Puna are jealous of those that aren't stressed out so much by nature. And these stressed out people are constantly talking about how it annoys them, why, what their grandma would say, etc. I find it annoying, this annoyance, yet I'm always able to get through it, grow, and become more tolerant. As far as fungus on skin, odds are you're allergic to soap!! Seriously, a clean sterile body....two hours later...yuk.

I've found that water (available from the faucet)works wonders with skin conditions. It also is a wonderful topical pain reliever.
Water is amazing for muscle pain, even deep muscle pain, amazing stuff.

Yes: fungus can be exacerbated by dietary intake, and this is highly variable per individual and their metabolism. (Many people are sensitive to beer, but because of the hops, not the alcohol.)

Keeping things clean/dry (including ventilation of the house) helps, up to and including simply not bothering with clothing at all (where permissible).

Gold Bond is a good preventative. It can also be used as a form of treatment: apply to wet skin -- it burns, yes, but it does take the fungi down a couple of notches.

If at the natural food store: anything with Tea Tree oil (by itself or as an active ingredient).

Sun light and ventilation in your bathroom make a difference. We rented a house were the bathroom didn't get ventilation or direct Sun and had problems with funk. our place now get lots of air and sun, no problems in ten years.

Don't reuse the towels in your bathroom. If you hang dry your laundry, shove them in the dryer with the heat on for about 10 minutes after taking them off the line. That's what I have been told, and it helps.

No PunaMauka2 I am not trying anything of the sort. I am actually saying what I know to be the best way of dealing with haole rot. It works.. and works well. For reals.
